Zhambyl region is developing a concept for tourism development until 2023

The concept of tourism development in Zhambyl region is being developed for the next five years until 2023.

It should be noted that the Zhambyl region combines the most beautiful natural landscapes, unique historical and cultural heritage, a variety of flora and fauna. According to the project "100 sacred places of Kazakhstan", eight historical and cultural sites have been included in the republican sacred map. These are the mausoleums of Karakhan, Aisha-bibi, Babaji-Khatun, the Tekturmas complex, the mausoleum of Baizak batyr Mambetuly, the ancient settlement of Taraz, the sanctuary of Jaisan and the mysterious Akyr-tas palace complex. The main priority of tourism development in the region is the project of the archaeological park "Ancient Taraz" in the central part of the regional center — a historical monument of national importance, where full-scale archaeological excavations and scientific research are continuing.

Five historical sites of Zhambyl region are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List — the settlements of Aktobe (Stepninskoye), Kulan, Ornek, Kostobe, and Akyrtas. The presence of five state nature reserves and five cultural monuments located on the Great Silk Road, listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, make Zhambyl region attractive for tourists.

Zhomart Khazhi, head of the Tourism Department of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and Innovative Development of the Akimat of the region, told about how the tourism sector in the region will develop further.

"There are 3,365 historical and cultural monuments in our region, of which 2,934 are archaeological monuments, 111 are historical, 97 are architectural and 28 are monumental art. Active work is underway to develop tourism infrastructure, hotel chains, transport infrastructure, and services, and event tourism is developing. There are 44 travel agencies, 150 hotels, one yurt town, 8 recreation areas, 10 children's health camps, 5 sanatorium resorts with unique therapeutic mud and mineral waters. The Western Europe — Western China international transport corridor has been built, along which roadside service complexes are being built. Several large investment projects have been developed — the Karalma ski resort, the Koksai Yurt Hotel complexes, the Tau Samaly, Balkhash-Nursaya and Shoushen bases.

According to the speaker, routes of cultural, historical and ecological types of tourism have been developed in the region, covering 33 tourist sites of the region. Both traditional and almost all existing types of tourism are developing — educational, entertainment, ethnic, equestrian, environmental, and extreme types. Six routes have been developed for the development of eco-tourism, and two more for the development of historical and educational tourism.

"The travel industry in our region can develop in several directions, every effort is being made to enter the national and international tourism services market with its products. A tourist information center has been created that can provide all information about tourism in the region. One of the main tasks today is to develop a master plan for the development of tourism in our region for 2018 - 2023."

Speaking about the factors hindering the development of the tourism industry in the region, Zh. Khazhi notes the unsatisfactory condition of the roads leading to tourist sites, the remoteness of these objects from each other and the shortage of good personnel for travel companies.

"However, certain steps have already been taken to solve these problems," the speaker said. — In 2017, an 8-kilometer highway to the Akyr-tas complex and a 4-kilometer road to the Tau Samaly mountain campsite in the Berikkara Gorge were built. 523 million tenge has been allocated from the local budget for these projects. As for the insufficient level of professionalism in the tourism business today and the inconsistency of the quality of service with international standards, the following has been done here. On the basis of Taraz State University, as part of the state order for the program for the development of productive employment and mass entrepreneurship, we have trained 23 tour guides."

In addition, he noted, in order to increase the tourism potential of the Great Silk Road, meetings are regularly held with the delegations of the four countries that are members of the Turkic Council — Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Information tours to the sights of the region are organized.

"We can offer many types of tourism," the speaker continued. — Educational, entertaining, ethnic, equestrian, environmental and extreme, jeep tours. Paragliding enthusiasts, with appropriate support, are ready to conduct international training camps and competitions, flights with an instructor. To do this, you can use the unique local conditions for soaring along the mountain ranges of the Karatau range, as well as the Kyrgyz and Talas Alatau. Every year expeditions go on mountain trips, tourist contests are held, but for the development of this direction it is necessary to open a station for young tourists. Cycling can be very popular if you develop and arrange routes that are convenient for this."

According to J. As part of the development program of the Zhambyl region, in 2017, design work began to improve the architectural appearance of the city of Taraz, projects to improve the floodplain of the Talas River, along which it is planned to build three recreation areas.
